Coordinator
Joey tries his hand at basketball when he visits with the coordinator of the
Hoop-It-Up 3 on 3 Basketball Tournaments that are sponsored throughout the country.
Nine hundred amateur teams participate in any given tournament in forty-four
cities across the nation. Numerous tasks go into organizing these events including
pulling together referees and volunteers that assist the coordinator, and contacting
the local charities the tournaments benefit. Suggestions as to how to become
involved in this type of work are given along with a list of other events to
coordinate.

FUBU Clothing Designers
Zubi hops a plane to New York City to catch up with the young entrepreneurs
of FUBU Clothing. These five men started with a desire to have or create
something of their own just for them. They all came from varied backgrounds
and levels of education bringing different talents to the business. Their
days are long and very busy, as they have had to learn the ins and outs of
the clothing industry from the ground up. All agree education is the key
to knowledge.

Public Information Scientist
Joey travels to Mt. St. Helens in Washington State to the U.S. Geological Survey
of the Cascade Volcano Observatory to visit with a Public Information Scientist.
His job is to relay information to the public on the activity surrounding
volcanoes. He recaps the events that led up to the 1980 eruption of Mt. St.
Helen. He also relays information on earthquake activity and volcano facts.
Joey goes into the lab to see what types of equipment and instruments are
used to monitor and collect data on earthquakes in the lava dome. Job responsibilities,
opportunities, travel requirements and necessary training and education are
reviewed.
Education level: College
Secondary level recommended classes: math, science, geology,
foreign language, communications, and public speaking.
