Testimonials:
Did
You Ever Wonder?:
“At
last a video series that brings science out of the classroom setting and
demonstrates in a subtle way the practical applications of science, social
studies, and future career choices. Best of all, rather than hard core
science geared towards the curriculum, the videos present entertaining
trips to factories to learn about everyday products. Each video follows
a similar format. A group of five middle-school aged children are lead
by their teacher, Ms. Jennings, in a discussion about an interesting question,
such as “How Is Paper Made?” Video clips then provide some
historical background and follow the modern manufacturing process of that
product. The teacher and students do not visit on site, but provide commentary
before and after the video visit. The technical quality is excellent,
and there is a nice mix of vintage black-and-white photographs and early
film footage to provide the historical context of the subject. Even teachers
will learn some interesting facts, such as how the mouse became part of
the computer, and why pencils that are made of graphite are called lead
pencils. The conservation video should be lauded for its balanced approach
to the topic of recycling and protecting the environment. While discussing
the importance of saving the forests and rivers for their natural beauty
and maintaining the balance of life, the video also points out the important
role of fishing and hunting. In both this presentation and the video about
paper making, students see controlled timbering and reforestation as a
normal process of providing products for daily use. Designed for upper
elementary school students, the series also could be utilized by primary
and middle school teachers, and would be equally welcome in public library
collections by parents, home schoolers, and club leaders. A ‘MUST
BUY!’”

“Thank you for
the opportunity to use the “Did You Ever Wonder?” program
in my classroom. I have found the videos to be of superior quality. In
combination with what I consider to be the finest teacher’s guide
I have ever used, the program has proven to be categorically invaluable
for use with elementary and middle school students. Additionally, I have
found the videos to be interesting and fast-paced, thereby capturing the
attention of children from beginning to end without any signs of lapses
in their span of attention. The video tours and lessons presented in the
program are so realistic that students effectively see themselves in the
videos as they learn about places they have never been and may otherwise
not have the opportunity to visit. The program is also a wonderful instructional
tool at the university level. In the university setting, I have used the
program to demonstrate to students of education how to properly use media
and resource material as instructional tools in the classroom. I have
enjoyed exceptionally positive feedback from my students. The video-based
program creates a truly interactive experience, especially when used in
conjunction with the guide. MediaPro’s “Did You Ever Wonder?”
Program admirably meets students’ individual needs and teachers’
curriculum concerns. Thank you again for this opportunity. I am anxiously
looking forward to more productions from your fine company.”
